woah times 98320984209348209382301700! [Oct. 17th, 2004|01:20 am]
[feeling a little bit | pensive]
[listening to |Sufjan]

I just saw Bright Eyes, M. Ward, and Jim James. LIVE.
Best night e-v-e-r!

It was amazing to just stand there and look at Conor sing. I thought I would start crying at one point. Not even so much the fact that Conor Oberst was standing in the same room as I was. Moreso the fact that there were about fifty thousand couples there. Cameron and I were the only girls without dates!

Oh, well. I got a My Morning Jacket CD and a Bright Eyes shirt. Will post pictures later.

how does it feel to be three years late? [Oct. 2nd, 2004|02:18 pm]
[feeling a little bit | cranky]

Hello.. long time, no update.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS:
-Saw Franz Ferdinand. Very cool.
-Went to a party where the band was a bunch of transvestites doing Go-go's covers. It was fun... minus the fact that I got mistakened for a woman naked Casey all night. I guess she was a little heavy because people kept coming up to me, exclaiming "Oh, my God! Casey, did you lose like FOUR HUNDRED POUNDS?". I proceeded to tell them I was not Casey and had in fact weighed how much I weigh now for about two years. Mmm.
-I have been watching the I Heart Huckabees trailer about three times a day for the last two weeks. (I really want to see it)
-I am very, very close to getting a job at Baskin Robbins.

THE UNTHINKABLE [Sep. 11th, 2004|10:58 pm]
[feeling a little bit | crushed]
[listening to |k.g.b.- captain max]

Remember earlier when I said, "oh, this day has been magical" or something along those lines?
Well, it took a turn for the worse. FAR worse.
Just as I wrapped up the e-mail I sent to Toby (enclosed at the bottom of my entry), I decided to check out www.amazon.com and see if they had any K.G.B. EPs that I didn't already have.

And what I discovered shocked me.

Could be wrong. Hope I'm mistaken. How could they...?

Perhaps you're familiar with the film "Agent Cody Banks", starring Frankie Muniz and Hilary Duff (as you know, Frankie Muniz is a creepy, teenage dwarf whose only good project is/was "Malcoln in the Middle". And Hilary Duff is secretly 37).

Anyway, the soundtrack to "Agent Cody Banks has many upcoming artists, such as Katy Rose, Janyelle, and...
THE K.G.B?!?!?!

It's true! The bay-area band contributed three- count them, THREE- tracks to the PG rated film, "Fortune and Fame", "I'm a Player", and an original for the film, "Ain't No Fakin' the Funk".

Is it possible the band has sold out?
Possibly.
Probably.
I'm not sure.
But I do know that this day has turned into a tragic one. Tragic indeed.

Anyway, here's the e-mail I wrote Toby( Practically useless now. No, mustn't think that way. I will always, always love the k.g.b. Whether or not they worked on the soundtrack to a terrible movie):

to toby of the k.g.b.-

hello. my name's katie. i live in oregon; portland to be specific. it's nothing like the bay area, trust me, but it's all right.

all right enough to be able to purchase a copy of your self titled album.

and i'm serious when i say it's one of the best albums i own. i can listen to the entire thing and not want to stab someone to death with a pencil stub, a la "natural born killers". all the songs are good, fun, and most importantly, not ridiculously sad/depressing. this is a rarity for most of my cd collection, i'm sorry and embarassed to say.

anyway, i won't keep you too long.. the reason i'm emailing you is because i have been planning on making a film for some time. before you get all excited (and i know you are!), i don't even know what it's about yet. i sit at my computer, staring at the computer until an idea comes to my head. sometimes the screensaver comes on and i have to click the mouse so i can go back to staring at the blank word document until i have an epiphany and quickly type it down.this repeats for several hours.here are the ideas i have for the film so far:

MISCELLANIOUS NOTES
-Main character is inlove with Owen Ashworth of
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone
-songs: casiotone for the painfully alone, greetings in
braille by the elected, plans get complex- benjamin
gibbard plus: cat stevens, iron and wine, etc.
-the female lead does weird, creepy karoake scene to
JA's "White Rabbit"... bunny ears, blue dress, crawling
/writhing on the floor, heavy eye make-up, eyes being
creepy and roll-y back in the head-y (wahtever that
means)

CHARACTERS
Ubi Papple: tall, goofy boy with brown hair, who dyes
his hair blue near the ending of the movie when he
becomes depressed, or vice versa. not sure yet. Likes:
adam green, all time quarterback, the elected, lou reed,
billy idol, etc. tries to smoke cigarettes but always
coughs.
Female Lead: ?
Annoying Bible Salesman: annoying bible salesman

that's it, basically.
i have a couple other ideas for scenes in the film, but nothing is concrete, save for the notes listed above. undeveloped, yes, but also promising (?). maybe.

so the actual reason that i'm e-mailing you is because i want to use the k.g.b.'s music in the film. i am doubting the bands i have up there would be willing to let me use one of their songs (maybe some of them would, i'm not sure), because let's face it- i have no money.

but i thought i'd email you and ask because i don't think (correct me if i'm wrong, please), that you made music so you could rake in a bunch of money and put it in a huge swimming pool and dive into it. like that one cartoon character that used to be on saturday morning cartoons. mcduck, i think his name was.

and another reason i wanted to at least ask was because... well i think that your music would be the perfect soundtrack to my film: it conveys a certain mood, what, exactly, i'm not sure. but it gives off a feeling that would be valuable to my film.

in a nutshell, i'm asking- no, pleading- you to permit me to put your music in my film. i honestly think if i got your blessing, i could get the film started in the right direction. it wouldn't feel right doing it without your consent and i think if you let me that this may just be the best movie ever. better than anything bertolucci did. better than anything scorcese did. better than anything the olsen twins did. and that's raising the bar pretty high, if i do say so myself.

so please please please let me get what i want.
-katie

p.s. on a lighter note, how are you doing? how is the band? still together? i've been trying to see if you guys are still playing anywhere, someone on livejournal told me you were still around. even if you're not, i think your music will live on. at least in my piece-of-shit discman.
p.p.s. it would be so, so boss if you responded... even just a "hey, thanks for e-mailing me, you lifeless, insane teenager but i have a life so... yeah. go away" would be
incredible.
p.p.p.s. where i came up with the name ubi papple... i'm not sure. i think i know the story behind it. email back if you're interested.

nay? yay! [Sep. 11th, 2004|07:35 pm]
I finally got Toby form the K.G.B.'s e-mail. Now I can ask if I could include some tracks of theirs in my film... YES!

BEST DAY EVER! I drank Aranciatas, listened to the Garden State soundtrack a bajillion times, and my to-be boyfriend who breeds frogs called me.

[listening to |the shins- new slang (when you notice the stripes)]

I desperately want to make a film about a girl who desperately wants to be desperately inlove and a boy named ubi papple who is desperately inlove with her; the soundtrack would be supplied by Casiotone For the Painfully Alone and it would touch people and make them see that we live in a beautiful world, yeah we do yeah we do.
